Frostwriting Writing Contest No. 1
Theme: Summer in Sweden or Sweden in the summer
Fall in the North. No snow to cover the ground and reflect what grayish light there is. That’s when we need to remember summer. We’re inviting you to write about a summer in Sweden from November’s dark perspective. It’ll make you feel better – and us. No, you don’t need to have actually been to Sweden, ever, to enter the contest.
You know what we’re talking about: no sleep because of the insomniac sun. Mosquitoes larger than your cat. Half-naked people turning like sunflowers towards the sun even when it’s technically freezing. Meetings, deeds or creatures you don’t believe in before you’ve seen elves dance on the lake’s surface in the early morning. Choose your favorite format: flash, short story or poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction, and trust us with your best and worst memories or fantasies.
